OUR HISTORY

TIQG Logo

The Thousand Islands Quilters’ Guild was started in May 1987 by an enthusiastic group of women who had been meeting regularly to quilt and discuss, share and trade ideas in quilting techniques. In order to share their love of working and designing with fabric, a Quilters’ Guild was created. The first general meeting was held in Brockville, ON on September 24, 1987.

The objectives of the Guild are:

• To provide a place for quilters to meet and exchange ideas

• To form a vehicle for bringing qualified quilting experts to Brockville for seminars and workshops

• To work on community projects in quilting

STITCH BY STITCH STUDIO GROUP

Stitch by Stitch (formerly known as The Applique Group) was formed in the fall of 2004 and we have been fortunate to maintain our meeting place at the Centennial Road Church since then. We are a hand stitching group (sewing, embroidery, knitting, crochet etc.) that gathers to share, inspire, learn new skills and admire.

Stitch by Stitch is under the umbrella of the Thousand Islands Quilting Quilters’ Guild and all Guild members are welcome. We meet on Tuesday mornings at 9:30 at Centennial Road Church. The south entrance of the church leads you into “Hospitality Boulevard” and we are to the left. There is a donation tin so we can thank the church for the use of the space.

Our Facebook page is Stitch by Stitch https://www.facebook.com/groups/106623656037087 (not to be confused with the Kingston Quilt store!). We have a picture of the group on our home page. Our page is not public so that we can post treasures that may be shared with others.

It is best to join the Facebook page so you can be aware of any changes in the schedule. We are not in the church during the summer or on holidays. Sometimes, we have “Sew Days” at the Lyn United Church. Generally, if the school buses are running, so are we!
